Just got your new android device ? but couldn’t get 3G connection established ? Well first and foremost check whether your device is locked or unlocked? Locked version would be device that should come together with specific network carrier. Normally you get this at bargain price. But the downside would be that you can’t get it work with other network operator. You have to unlock it first but that is not what I want to discuss in this posting.
However if your indicator only show E for EDGE, or G for GPRS which mean a lower speed broadband connection, that show
If your device is not locked, but unable to get 3G connection. This is what you should do
- Contact your network provider, get through the answering machine and talk to the operator
- Tell them you need 3G setting for your mobile. Specify the exact brand name and model
- They will send you a sms with the setting
- When the sms arrived, save or install the setting
- Sometime you are require to reboot your device once installation is done. Even if it doesn’t ask you to do it, it is best to do it.
- And your connection should be ready to go. You can confirm this if your network indicator (normally at the top right / left of your screen) shows 3G or H(for HSDPA) indicator.
- The 3G connection yet being established. Perhaps your should repeat the above
- Or
- Actually there is no 3G connection in your place. Take note, not all places are covered with 3G signal or above. In most places only EDGE is available. Do contact your network provider to verify. If so, there is nothing much you can do. Rely on Wi-Fi or live with slow moving EDGE.
On the other note, I highly advice that you invest on subscribing to unlimited data plan from your network provider. There is no fun in using Tablet if you don’t have internet connection. Unless you are constantly being in Wi-Fi ready area…it is a big bummer.
Also would like to advice, if you have connection problem, going back to the shop where you get the device normally don’t solve the problem. Most of the sales people sells thing with not adequate knowledge on the product. And network connection normally not their main strength. So best to call and speak to people at network operator. In my experience, they know much better.
